The church is more than 400 years old, but it has been standing in Beskydy Mountains for less than a century. How is that possible? Originally it was located in Trans Carpathian Russia, in a village called Hlinanec, where it belonged to the Orthodox Church. However, it became too small for the local community and it wasn´t used anymore. In 1928, Mr. Sebela, the head of Mining and Metallurgy Company in Ostrava, bought the church and had it delivered to Kuncice pod Ondrejnikem, a village in the North-East of Moravia. The church was dismantled into pieces, delivered to Czechoslovakia by train, and then re-built. In 1931, the church was consecrated in the name of St. Procopius and Barbara, the patrons of coal miners. In 1937, Mr. Sebela´s daughter got married in the church – in fact the wedding was the reason why Mr. Sebela bought the church.

Nowadays, the church is surrounded by a cemetery. In 1980´s, the floor was already so damaged that it had to be exchanged. In 2009-2010, the roof was repaired.

If you want to visit the church and will be going by train, take off in Kuncice pod Ondrejnikem and walk about 1 km East (direction Celadna). Walk past a grocery store, turn right, cross the rails and turn left. You will see the church standing on a nearby hill. Or, if you travel by car, the GPS location is 49°32‘7.16“, 18°18‘10.14“.
