ABOUT CYRILKA SPRING
The spring called Cyrilka with the chapel of St. Cyril and Methodius is located in the north-east of the Czech Republic, in Čeladná village. If you want to visit this place, go by car or by bike from Čeladná in the direction of Podolánky and you will find it just next to the road on your left side, under a hill called Kozinec.
The wooden chapel was built in 1936, the architect was the engineer Roska from Kroměříž. Its appearance resembles Jurkovič´s buildings, which are famous and typical for their carved and colorful wooden design. Mr Roska also designed the spring´s gazebo.
The chapel has a rectangular floor plan and it was built on a stone plinth. The roof and walls are covered with shingles, the side walls have windows with carved wooden frames. There is a soffit above the terrace – a small roof that protects the lower part of the roof gable from weather damage. There is also a small semi-oval roof, typical for this type of buildings. There is a wooden board with a painting in the shape of the sun on its bottom side. The most significant decoration is the painting depicting St. Cyril and Methodius in the gable of the roof. The open entrance has wooden columns and railings, beautifully decorated with carvings and paintings in the shape of leaves, circles, hearts and crosses. The door is large, with a carved frame.
The gazebo covering Cyrilka spring gave the name to our diorama. The back wall is made of local stone and decorated with a mosaic portrait of St. Cyril. The entire construction is covered by a pyramid-shaped roof. The water here is drinkable and refreshing. There are several benches and picnic tables nearby for the visitors to take a rest before continuing for their next journey.
Note: The real site is located on a slanting hill. However, we placed this diorama onto a flat surface for easier assembling. Due to this, some parts may look different than reality.
